The Council of Europe delegation, responsible for monitoring the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, visited the UGIP "Rino Zandonai" Tuzla with the aim of recording the position of the Italian national minority in Tuzla, primarily in the rights to use the Italian language. The European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages is an international instrument of the Council of Europe that aims to protect and promote regional and minority languages in Europe. The Charter encourages states to take measures and activities for the preservation, protection and development of these languages, including their application in the public and private sectors, education, media and cultural activities. You can view the text of the Charter HERE.

The visit to the Association took place on 5.11.2025. (15.00 to 16.00) at the premises of the Association. On behalf of the UGIP "Rino Zandonai" were present Željko Mott, Blanka Tišma and Tihomir Knežiček. The members of the delegation were four experts for monitoring the Charter.

In the conversation with the delegation, the members of the Association presented the work of the Association, its strengths and weaknesses, and the delegation showed the greatest interest in the articles on the activities of the Association published in the magazine Trentini nel mondo. The information from the meeting will be taken into account when drafting the Annual Report on Compliance with the Charter for the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting was mutually beneficial, and the Delegation expressed satisfaction that the Association has a library and regular activities.
