ASSOCIATION OF ITALIANS "ŠTIVOR - TRENTINI CLUB":

In 1882, the Italian region of Trentino and Bosnia and Herzegovina, although the latter more in the administrative sense, were part of the same state: the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. That same year, a terrible flood completely deprived the inhabitants of several Trentino villages of their property. The water carried with it not only houses, but also entire properties, which completely changed the appearance of these villages and made some of them unfit for life. Italians from Trentino are settled in various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina: near Tuzla, Konjic, Banja Luka and Prnjavor. A settlement named Štivor was founded near Prnjavor, its founders traveled for months on foot from Trentino and brought with them their customs, language, and beliefs that have only slightly changed to this day. Italians from other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina mostly returned to their homeland before the outbreak of World War I. The people of Štivoran were more attached to the new region, and only recently has this region suffered greater emigration of its population to Italy.

The goals of the association are to further preserve the culture and tradition of Italians, especially the Trentinos from Štivore, who still use the special Trentino dialect from the Valsugana region, which is slowly dying out in their native Italy. The association is active in maintaining tradition by organizing folklore festivals, national costumes, exhibitions, organizing masquerades, and gathering Italians. Activists of the association make a significant contribution to the organization of the traditional manifestation of the review of national minorities under the name "Little Europe", which is held in Prnjavor and the surrounding communities. On June 23, 2012. The association hosted the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the arrival of Italians in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting was attended by a large number of guests, guests from Italy, members of the Italian community and associations of Italians from Tuzla, Banja Luka and Sarajevo.

Today, the Italian community in Štivor has 960 inhabitants, and almost all able-bodied Italians who have dual citizenship are employed in their home country, while unemployed Štivorans from Italy receive regular financial assistance.
The association was founded on March 9, 1997, with headquarters in Roncegno (TN) Italy. He is in constant contact with the Trentini nel Mondo Association and the Institutions of the Autonomous Province of Trento. The club has no political, religious or racist interests.
