On September 3, 1992, the plane of the Italian Air Force "Lira 34" was shot down in the vicinity of Fojnica, on Mount Zec. Shortly before the planned landing, the plane was hit by two rockets that caused an explosion and crashed the aircraft on top of Mount Zec, killing all crew members. The plane with four crew members was transporting humanitarian and sanitary aid from Split to Sarajevo. Marco Betti, Marco Rigliaco, Giuseppe Buttaglieri and Giuliano Velardi died. A few years later, a monument to the victims was erected near the place of death, and since then a military ceremony has been held every year in honor of the memory of the fallen pilots. This year, 2024, on September 3, the 32nd anniversary of the accident was marked, and the commemoration was attended by Brigadier General Dal Maso, together with the Ambassador of Italy De Ruzza, representatives of local authorities, members of EUFOR and the Tuzla Association of Italians. The brave pilots who died who gave their lives in the mission to help endangered civilians during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina were honored and flowers were laid on the monument. Flowers were laid on the monument by association members Željko Mott, Vlasta Bradvičić, Zoran Bradvičić, Tihomir Knežiček, Smilja Knežiček, Verica Divković, Nizama Begović, Behija Hodžić and Alija Hodžić.
