Rino Zandonai Tuzla

Club Trentino
Bosnia and Herzegovina

On June 5, 2025, at 2:15 p.m., the renovation of the premises of the UGIP "Rino Zandonai" and the Trentina club, located in Miladije at Mitra Trifunovića Uče 135, was opened. The premises had previously been used by the Association since the conditions were right, and leaks and damage to the walls, ceilings and floors due to moisture caused the cessation of the Association's work.

As a reminder, the Kreka Local Community allowed the Association to use substandard premises in 2002, and the photographs show the premises before the first renovation began in 2003.

Trentini nel mondo financed the renovation of the premises and the premises were officially opened on April 12, 2003. The opening was attended by Rino Zandonai and the then mayor of Tuzla, Jasmin Imamović.

The building was entirely entrusted to the management of the Tuzla Red Cross, which did not object to the association using the premises it had at its disposal. The lack of maintenance and age of the building caused leaks, rapid moisture and other difficulties. At that time, the association used the space to store inventory, but not for activities. The details are described in the book "30 Years of the Italian Association in Tuzla". The library was moved to a separate space on Rudarska Street. In the fall of 2020, the Tuzla Red Cross renovated the entire building (new roof, facade, gutters, surroundings, driveway) and thus stopped further deterioration of the building.

The Red Cross of the City of Tuzla, primarily Secretary Sead Hasić, allowed the association to continue to use the space (which was completely unusable) free of charge, with the request that the premises be made suitable for work and be used for the activities of the Rino Zandonai Association. A contract was also signed for a period of 10 years, which allows the association to renovate the premises and use the premises. This contract was the basis for seeking funds for the renovation of the facility. The association and the Trentina club submitted a project to renovate the premises to the public call of the Trentini nel mondo association, which accepted the initiative and allocated 5,000 EUR for the renovation of the premises so that the association could carry out its activities. The renovation began in late autumn 2024 and was completed in May 2025. Electricity was introduced to the renovated space, windows were replaced, walls and floors were repaired, new electrical wiring was installed, ventilation in the toilet and an entrance to the attic space were arranged. All walls were repaired, drywall was installed where necessary, and the space became functional. The water supply to the facility could not be resolved due to the high price charged by the Water Company, considering that it was a new connection, and the situation was resolved by placing a 200 l plastic barrel in the attic and connecting it to the existing water installation in the toilet. The barrel is filled with water from canisters, and it is expected that the water supply situation will be resolved in agreement with the tenant in the facility who has a connection to the public water supply. After the facility was renovated, the library was returned to a separate room, and then, through the project and support of the City of Tuzla, the purchase of inventory was realized. Equipping the premises for organizing cultural events and gatherings was made possible through a grant from the City of Tuzla. Thus, the problem of accommodating the Italian association "Rino Zandonai" Tuzla was permanently resolved. Without the help of the Red Cross of the City of Tuzla, it would not have been possible to realize the basic goal, which showed the understanding of the Red Cross of the City of Tuzla for the needs of the association of the Italian national minority.

A newly renovated library with around 2,000 titles in Italian and around 200 titles in other languages has been opened in the space.

At the opening of the exhibition and the association's premises, Asja Redžić addressed the audience on behalf of the Mayor of Tuzla and the Cultural Service of the City Administration. The Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Sarah Eti Castellani, visited the exhibition and listened with interest to the stories of Tuzla residents of Italian origin. In the informal part, snacks were served with music and songs by enthusiastic members. As a token of appreciation, the members of the association presented the ambassador with a flower arrangement by association member Gordana Segat, an exhibition catalogue and the book "30 years of the Italian Association in Tuzla".

The members of the association express their gratitude to the donors, to those who contributed to the professional implementation of the work on the decoration of the premises, as well as to the members of the association who participated in the preparation of the exhibition and the preparation of the space for the opening ceremony.
