In Trento, the international conference "Labor shortage: developing realistic solutions through social dialogue" was held from October 18 to 20 at the Monte Bondone Hotel in Vaneze. The conference was organized, as in previous years, by Trentini nel mondo in cooperation with UNAIE and EZA. There were about 20 participants at the conference (three from Bosnia and Herzegovina), and the topic of the lack of manpower and finding a solution to the recorded problem was discussed. 14 topics were presented, and a series of state interventions and analysis of potential causes of labor shortages (demography, labor market, psychology, lack of training), potential solutions (increasing the employment rate, changing the policies of EU countries regarding the residence and accommodation of foreigners, immigration and mobility, continuous training, technological improvement) and obstacles that stand between possible solutions and their effective application (disordered legislation, unwillingness of governments in the EU to respond to the needs of workers outside the EU, etc.). One could hear numerous examples of problems and solutions in different European countries, which at different levels (corporate, trade union, political, social) enabled concrete actions to solve the shortcomings in the provision of labor force. Of great interest was the comparison not only between the actions, but also between the contexts in which these actions showed their greater or lesser effectiveness in achieving needs. Finally, as in a simplified model, the conference enabled a dialogue between experts and the public, in order to achieve the creation of a synthesis document with the main critical elements, but also the opportunities and challenges that await society and organizations of European workers.<\/p>\n
